Congregate is a state funded project.  There are two state agencies that provide subsides, the Department of Economic and Community Development and the Department of Social Services.  These subsidies are set by the state based on the current budget.

The state requires 1) tenants must be 62 years of age or older, 2) income guidelines not to exceed $23,415 for a single person and $26,825 for a couple and 3) may not own real estate.

Congregate is a 44-unit facility.  Three units are utilized for program purposes and one is occupied by a resident staff person, leaving 40 units available for rent by the frail elderly.

One of the criteria governing eligibility requires that applicants or tenants be capable of living semi-independently and meeting their obligations under the lease.  “Semi-independently” means that a person is capable of providing for their own daily needs without supervision.

Our facility offers support services to our tenants.  These services are:

  • 24-hour emergency services ( there is no medical staff)
  • light housekeeping
  • one meal a day, usually at noon

As well as providing support services for our residents, we also offer social activities for their enjoyment.
